Ivan Smetankin (Russia/U.S)

Bassist Ivan Smetankin received his Performance Degree from the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 2016 and is currently pursuing his DMA degree at Louisiana State University with Yung-Chiao Wei. During his studies in St. Petersburg he has performed as soloist with the Rimsky-Korsakov Music College Chamber Orchestra and the St. Petersburg State Symphony. As an orchestra musician, he has performed with orchestras in Russia, Finland, Germany, and Louisiana. Ivan was a finalist for the LSU Concerto Competition twice, and was awarded the First Prize in the Louisiana Bass Fest Competition.
