Cindy Xu (U.S.)

Coordinator and Mentor

Cindy Xu is currently a senior at Baton Rouge Magnet High School. Her journey in music began at the age of 4 on the piano. Not long after, she picked up the violin at the age of 6. Cindy continued on piano and violin until her freshman year of high school when she decided to switch to double bass due to the need for more bassists in her school orchestra, and has stuck with it ever since. She is the current principal bassist of the BRMHS Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, and the Louisiana Youth Orchestra. Cindy was also the principal bassist in the 2020 LMEA All-State Orchestra and Multi-District Honor Orchestra. She has also founded the National Federation of Music Club at her school and is a member of the National Honor Society, BETA Club, STEM Club, and the Chinese Student Association.
